Altdorfs Biergarten
Altdorf is one of those places that’s just oozing history and charm. It’s at 301 West Main, and the building itself is a real treasure. They restored it so beautifully—it even got an award from the Historic Review Board. There’s this cool stone-lined well inside that was hand-dug ages ago, and you can actually look down into it. Oh, and the mural of the Texas Hill Country by Lee and Matt Casbeer? Stunning. It’s worth stopping by just for those little touches. Now about the food, that is the reason you first wanted to go here, right?
OPAS Smoked Meats
When Rhonda and I moved into Walnut Canyon Cabins, we did not know that a guest house property was different from a bed and breakfast. We quickly learned! As we wished to support local businesses, we set out to find items we wanted to eat that were also quick and easy for our guests to prepare! Walking in the door to OPA's it was a no brainer, the pepper crusted, smoked Canadian Bacon is delicious! There is so much more to taste.

You’ve got to check out Arch Ray Resort if you’re in Fredericksburg and looking for a spot that has it all—great drinks, amazing food, and a little bit of Texas history thrown in. It’s like this one-stop destination where you can pick your adventure, whether that’s wine tasting, grabbing a craft beer, or enjoying a seriously good meal. The 1894 Ranch to Table Restaurant is where you’ll want to sit down and stay awhile. Everything’s fresh, made from scratch, and packed with flavor—whether you’re digging into ribs, redfish, or one of their hearty side dishes.
Altstadt Brewery
When you're heading into Fredericksburg, it’s impossible to miss Altstadt Brewery—it looks like a German castle right off US 290! And trust me, you’ve got to check it out. It’s not just a brewery; it’s an experience. There’s so much to see and do here—brewery tours, a taproom, restaurant, Biergarten, Rathskeller, Grand Hall, and even a Tractor Museum. So much, so good!
