If you’re thinking about where to spend New Year’s Eve 2025, we’d love for you to make Walnut Canyon Cabins your home base. Staying just outside Fredericksburg means you can enjoy everything the holiday brings—festive events, great food, and live music, then return to quiet nights, dark skies, and a peaceful Hill Country setting to welcome 2026.
One of the most anticipated celebrations is the City of Fredericksburg’s Countdown to the New Year at Marktplatz. Hosted by the Parks & Recreation Department for the past seven years, this free, family-friendly event has become a favorite for both locals and visitors. Held downtown, it features a ball drop inspired by New York City along with inflatables and moonwalks for kids, arts and crafts, games, dance performances, live music, roaming entertainers, food trucks, beverages for sale, and a video wall presentation. Entertainment begins in the afternoon with shows and performances leading up to the early evening ball drop, making it a fun and relaxed way for families to celebrate together.
For adults looking to ring in the new year in style, Fredericksburg offers several memorable options. The Hangar Hotel hosts its annual New Year’s Eve Masquerade Ball, an elegant 21-and-over evening with dinner, live music, late-night black-eyed peas, cornbread, champagne, and a festive countdown. Tickets are limited and must be purchased by phone, so planning ahead is recommended.
For a more classic Hill Country experience, you have Luckenbach, featuring the Kin Faux Band with September Moon. The band is based out of San Antonio, a nationally touring band influenced, by the likes Charlie Daniels, Alabama, and Restless Heart. Tickets include a Champagne Toast and WILL SELL OUT!
You can also consider Albert, Texas Dancehall welcoming Cody Widner and The Lone Star Souvenirs for a night of two-stepping, honky-tonk favorites, and a champagne toast before midnight.
Most Fredericksburg shops, restaurants, and wineries stay open on New Year’s Eve, making it easy to spend the day browsing boutiques, enjoying tastings, or lingering over a good meal before heading out for the evening.
On New Year’s Day, about half of local businesses reopen, and many guests choose to start the year outdoors with a hike at Cross Mountain or Enchanted Rock, following the old German tradition of welcoming the new year in nature.
New Year’s Eve is always one of the most popular times to visit Fredericksburg, and availability fills quickly. We hope you’ll join us at Walnut Canyon Cabins to celebrate the end of 2025 and begin 2026 surrounded by Hill Country beauty. We’d truly love to welcome you for the start of a new year.
