Looking for adventure that stirs the soul? Fall is the season to experience Enchanted Rock. In September and October, crisp Hill Country mornings make the climb to the summit unforgettable. This massive pink granite dome rises 425 feet above the landscape, glowing in the early light, its rugged surface marked by centuries of wind, fascinating geology, and timeless legends. Native Tonkawa stories of “ghost fires” once dancing across the stone gave the rock its mystical name—Enchanted Rock.

Join a ranger for a guided hike on the Summit Trail, the park’s most iconic route. Along the 0.8-mile climb, you’ll uncover ancient stories, marvel at unique geologic features, and stand atop sweeping views that stretch across ridges and canyons. Reservations are required, so plan ahead!
Thanks to a recent park expansion, there’s even more to explore. Guided hikes on the new northern property lead through oak savannas, rolling grasses, and hidden rock outcroppings, offering fresh perspectives of the dome. For a truly magical adventure, the Faltin’s Overlook Sunrise Hike winds 2.5 miles through wildflowers and boulders to a hidden vantage point, where the dome glows golden at daybreak.
After a day of exploration, retreat to Walnut Canyon Cabins, your secluded hideaway tucked into the wooded hills. Unwind on your private porch, watch deer wander through the trees, and let the quiet embrace of the Hill Country carry you into the evening. Adventure by day, serenity by night—the perfect escape.
